Due to varying reasons including finishing of a major rebuild on my Brothers (now sold) Pro Street 68 Camaro, we have a had a very late start to our winter update schedule for the “69.
We have just competely “re-done” the fuel system including fitting a new Magnafuel Pro Star 500 fuel pump and new Magnafuel filter with new -10 braided hosing with a new -4 return line and re-set fuel pressures. The Fuel pump has now been re-mounted correctly, we have also fixed our problem with our boost referenced fuel regulator which was causing an over rich fuel condition.
We have also replaced the spark plugs, leads, rotor, MSD unit, coil and cap. If the car still has a mis-fire then I'm going to retire and take up dominos with my Granny !!!
The Camaro has just returned from Jon Websters workshop with a new set of Precission Gear 3.89.1 replacing the old 4.11.1, giving us some well needed top end MPH. A new wheel bearing and new oil were added. Also fitted was a MSD Digital 7 ignition unit and a simple mapping tune was put into the car. Jon also fabricated a new 4” cold air pipe to the back of the 6”cowl bonnet as the old system was drawing hot air from the headers. Talking of headers, these will be soon “wrapped” to take out a lot of the under bonnet temperatures.
We are going to fabricate a panel to go on top of the radiator mounted to the front slam panel and a small air dam underneath to try and force more air through the radiator to aid cooling for the motor while on the road. We are also reverting back to our old Flex- A- Lite twin fans with cowl.
We are currently removing the 454 and will be taking it to I.C.E Automotive for an inspection and hopefully there won't be any serious issues with the motor as it should only just need the basic “freshen-up” parts.
I still want to fit a standard dash back into the car but haven't had much joy in finding one but might fit a fibreglass “Glasstech” unit .We have just obtained the latest upgrade from Altronics for our EGT computer so we can get it working correctly. We are going to try and get this to work inconjunction with our digital MSD ignition giving us some well needed feedback from the engine. We will now have proper control over boost and timing and will have a whole host of other information to tune the the car properly .

The F2 supercharger will be going back to Procharger for a check over and freshen. We are hoping to add a new ATI Super Pulley for the blower which is a “sprag type” pulley to try and help us keep the blower belt on the car at high RPM. This pulley will take a lot of stress of the belt and will hopefully eliminate belt failure, something we have been plagued with over the last few seasons.
I have just bought some spare Convo Pro rear wheels and had my slicks fitted so I can put the Camaro into WSR trim (Slicks, race fuel, and wheelie bars) for some non - Street Eliminator rounds. Shame we haven't got the budget to go to the World street Race in Canada later this year, (see links section for details) as that is going to be an awesome weekend !!
We are really excited about the design by Power Race Graphics of our new T shirts. (See new T shirt section for details) which hopefully should be with us shortly and for sale. Vinnie and Myself have really got our work cut out with the late start and all of the above, but Iam sure we can pull it off and be at the track sooner than later !
That's pretty much it for now, but make sure you return soon to catch up with the latest news and how the update are coming on from Billy The Kid Racing.
See you at the track soon,
Billy and the team.
